During a visit to the National Archaeological Museum reserves Athens in 1902, the mathematician Spyridon STAIS looking for fragments of a beautiful statue, Adonis, recovered with hundreds of other objects in the wreckage of a Roman ship near the coast of the island of Antikythera.
